In order to better serve our customers, WebzPro is making an important upgrade in your server's default configuration.
The default version of PHP on our servers will be updated to PHP 5.4. This change will ensure a more secure and stable hosting environment going forward.
Final version of PHP 5.3 will be released on 6/29/2014 and at that time we will update the servers with PHP 5.3.29. On 7/3/2014 around 4:00 AM CST we will update all servers to PHP 5.4.
1) Why are you making this change?
The default version of PHP that our servers are currently utilizing; PHP 5.3 has been deprecated for some time and end of life for that version will be 6/29/2014. As such, we would like to see your sites enjoying the security and performance benefits of the newer versions of PHP which we already have available on your server.
2) How can I make sure my sites will work?
To test your sites please login into your cPanel and you can change your current PHP version by following the instructions in our Knowledge Base, PHP Selector Choose PHP 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5, https://www.webzpro.com/wbill/knowledgebase.php?action=displaycat&catid=35
Once finished testing reverse the above steps and run the native version of PHP.
3) Will my site experience any down time?
Once the Sysadmins recompile the server configuration servers will be rebooted and require about ten minutes for service to come back up.
4) Who can help me update my site/script to use a newer version of PHP?
While we can assist you with changing the version of PHP your script utilizes, we will not be able to recode your site to be compatible with newer versions of PHP. You should contact the script's author/developer to inquire as to whether or not they currently have or plan to re-design their code to utilize later versions of PHP.
5) Software and versions compatibility?
Most main stream software if not all will already be compatible with PHP such as the following.
WordPress (versions 3.0 and above)
Joomla (2.5 and above)
Drupal (7 and above)
Again please contact your software vendors and developers to check for compatibility issues if any.
If you have any questions do not reply to this email, open a support ticket under Billing/Management and we will do our best to address your concerns.
